I’m Athiya, a Tamil (Muslim) writer and film critic, originally from Sri Lanka, Now based in Germany. I write in Tamil; fiction, non-fiction, examining cinema, culture, and emotional life through a personal and political lens Writing has always been my first language of resistance and expression.

After moving to Germany, I embraced life as a full-time multidisciplinary artist. Alongside my writing, I developed a visual practice that includes intimate ink drawings, Experimental photography, body-based art, and frame-by-frame animation emerged as another language to explore the stories I carry. I create through the lens of memory, Female Gaze, sensuality, displacement, and womanhood, often touching themes like identity, desire, trauma, and transformation.
